Overclocking a GPU is an easy tweak to get some extra performance out of your PC. While it can be dangerous, it’s also safe if you take some precautions. If you’re interested in getting extra power out of your PC, you might want to overclock your GPU.

There are many different ways you can overclock a GPU. My preferred method is CAM because it’s a free and easy-to-use application for your PC. It also provides you with many useful features like a one-click GPU overclocking function.

Before you overclock your GPU, I suggest you run a benchmark so you can compare results before and after. I also recommend you proceed with caution and make overclocking adjustments in small intervals. If you’re concerned about your PC, you should also run benchmarks between adjustments.

Here’s how to overclock a GPU in 5 easy steps:

Please download and install CAM before proceeding.

Step 1: Click the Tuning Tab

Step 2: Click the Overclocking Tab

Step 3: Adjust Power Limit

Adjusting the Power Limit of your graphics card allows you to draw more (or less) power. Move the slider to the right until you reach your desired offset. I recommend you increase this number by 5.

Step 4: Adjust Core Clock

Adjusting the Core Clock of your graphics card has the greatest impact on overclocking. Move the slider to the right until you reach your desired offset. I recommend you increase this number by 150 if you have an Nvidia GPU and 50 if you have an AMD GPU.

Step 5: Adjust Memory Clock

Adjusting the Memory Clock of your graphics card has a smaller impact on overclocking. Move the slider to the right until you reach your desired offset. I recommend you increase this number by doubling the core clock offset.

Once you have all the numbers in place exactly how you want them, click Save Changes and run a benchmark. Continue making adjustments to the Power Limit, Core Clock, and Memory Clock if necessary. But please remember to run benchmarks between changes to determine performance!
