About Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is an online multiplayer first person shooter set in a mythic science fiction world. It’s the successor to the original Destiny game released in 2014 and comes packed with new features and improvements. In Destiny 2, players assume the role of guardians and must defend the world from Ghaul and his Red Legion army while battling along side friends in PVE. If saving the last city isn’t your thing, there’s also PVP game types such as objective based and the traditional deathmatch. Whether you prefer PVE or PVP, we think you’ll have a better experience on PC so let’s dive right in and take a look at the minimum system requirements.

This build is well rounded and budget friendly with an i5-7600 and a GTX 1050 Ti. It includes the minimum 8GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD for storage. The storage space is nice but it’s missing an SSD which would help the system feel snappier when navigating the OS. While it may be classified as entry level, it’s still capable of consistently pumping out ~90 FPS at 1080p and ~70 FPS at 1440p in Destiny 2. If you want smoother gameplay and even higher framerates, or an SSD for increased speeds, check out System 2 and System 3.

Compared to system 2, you will gain an FPS increase of 29% in 1080p and 20% in 1440p. This build also comes with a 1TB SSD for even more space for storing games and the Kraken X62 for even greater cooling performance during those long gaming sessions.

FPS Data for Destiny 2 PC Builds

Now that we are familiar with each system, let’s take a look at an FPS comparison chart.

We are working on adding Destiny 2 to our BLD program but we do not yet have guaranteed FPS data. Instead, the numbers in the chart below were gathered using CAM data for Star Wars Battlefront as this was the closest recommended specs to Destiny 2. It was also recommended as similar specs by Can You Run It.

Which Build Is For You?

System 3 performs extremely well in both 1080p and 1440p. This system is recommended to any gamer who prefers maximum graphical settings and the highest framerates without compromise. It’s also the build for you if you own a monitor with a 144hz refresh rate so that you can take full advantage of the high FPS.

System 2 is ideal for any gamer who doesn’t plan on spending $2,500 but still wants to experience Destiny 2 on a system that performs well above the 60 FPS limit. It’s also ideal if you are interested in the 2 extra cores that Ryzen 5 offers which can be helpful when working with applications that benefit from multiple cores.

System 1 is recommended for the entry level gamer who’s looking to get into PC gaming with solid performance while still experiencing the recommended 60 FPS minimum in Destiny 2. As you can see from the charts, 1080p is good but 1440p is not far from 60 FPS and you may experiences dips below 60 FPS during intense scenes.
